What is Sports Massage Therapy and how can it help me?

Massage therapy, in the most general sense, is the therapeutic manipulation of soft tissue in the body with intent to promote a healing environment. A Sports Massage Therapist is specially trained and certified in the treatment of orthopedic conditions. Therefore, Sports Massage is the manipulation of the soft tissue in the body to treat target specific orthopedic conditions.

What to expect:

Similar to a relaxation session, an initial health history is taken for medical safety. Further assessments are utilized in order to better understand the movements and (mis)alignments that could be contributing to your chief complaint - including, but not limited to, muscle testing, gait and postural analysis.

During your treatment, manual therapy is applied to lengthen, shorten, activate, and disengage specific tissue through a variety of modalities - post-isometric relaxation (PIR), muscle energy techniques (METs), kinesiology taping, cupping therapy, deep tissue therapy and Active Release Techniques®

The gentle, but effective, therapy known as "myofascial release" is, by far and large, the most valued approach to treatment during these orthopedic sessions.
