What is Active Release Technique?

Active Release Technique® (ART) is a form of soft-tissue therapy used in treating pain in muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. This includes, but is not limited to, conditions like plantar fasciitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, and nerve entrapments. Founded over 30 years ago by Dr. P. Michael Leahy, ART remains one of the leading methods to pain management.

Though many chiropractors like Dr. Leahy follow the ART® protocols, several other healthcare clinicians also use the techniques to better the well-being of their patients - clinicians such as physical therapists, osteopaths and family nurse practicioners. Many massage therapists are heavily encouraged to become certified because of their constant physical contact with clients and patients. It hones their already developed skills even further and eliminates the "poke and pray" strategy.

The treatment can be described as "aggressive and uncomfortable" on some areas (many clients have compared it to a deep tissue massage) but it yeilds dramatic and powerful results - well worth the brief moments of discomfort.

If your therapist boasts this logo on their business cards, banners, or websites... you can rest assured that you are in the care of excellent and knowledgable hands.
